John Burkitt Hall Opening
On Monday 19th June 2017, we offically opening the 'John Burkitt Hall'. The hall was opening by Mrs Jean Burkitt, who was the wife of John Burkitt. John was a governor at our school for 42 years! After he sadly passed away, Jean very kindly gave all of the donations from his funeral to our school, because it had played such a big part in his life.
After discussion with Mrs Burkitt we decided to use that money, along with school finds, to refurbish the hall, including new blinds, a newly polished floor, painting and new school chairs. The end result is fantastic! We held a grand opening ceromony, with the cutting of a ribbon and the unveiling of a plaque.
The hall was named after him, so that future genrations would always know who he was and the impact he had on our school and the community, many of which use the hall for meeting and clubs.
Many members of the local community, parents and governors came along to celebrate, which included a delicious afternoon tea! What a wonderful day!
